In memory of Vera Fernsby

Vera grew up in Britechester and met Dorothy when she volunteered at the hospital as a nurse during WWI. They soon became great friends and through her, she met Jack. He was a soldier and they began exchanging letters, which developed into a romance. They met again and spent a night together, resulting in Vera becoming pregnant. She was terrified, but thanks to Dorothy, she was allowed to move to Brindleton Bay with her and her husband Philip. She gave birth to her son Harry without knowing if Jack was alive or not. When he finally returned and the war came to an end they married and had another child, their daughter Frances. She was an exceptional mother and wife and will be truly missed by her two children as well as her best friend Dorothy.

Hey dad, it’s Vera. Sorry I missed Father’s Day, in my defense I didn’t know I’d have a dad to celebrate with. Maybe we can do something when I get home. Anyways, yeah. I’m sorry about all the conflict at the moment, I hate it so much. I don’t even care about the right and wrong anymore, I just want my family to be okay. Why do I always have to get caught between all these people I love? Never mind. I don’t want to get into that right now, dad. That isn’t what this is about. I picked this card up a while ago, I get them all over the place. This one reminded me of you, for some reason. Look in the bottom right corner for where, there’s some really cool bioluminescent algae, though I can’t figure out what kind of the life of me.

I like the night, you know that already. After all, I’m functionally nocturnal when I can manage it. The reason this card made me think of you was because of a memory I have, from when I was still new to freedom. I was just starting to get comfortable with you and the labs, and you took me out to these tide pools in New Jersey to look at lichens. I thought it was so cool, you know — you don’t have any reason to remember, but I do. We took the data and sat on the roof of your car listening to Hozier, because it was already some of my favorite music, eating cold sandwiches and talking. I think that’s when I started to move toward seeing you as a father figure. You answered all my questions as best you could about the things we’d seen in the pools, and when I started to tell you about my history you only asked genuine questions, we looked at the stars and you talked about how you came to be an Avenger. I think I almost called you my dad for the first time a few months later at that Young Minds in Science Gala you’d tapped me to speak at? I did that speech for two main reasons — to piss off Flash Thompson, and because of know you hate giving most speeches and I didn’t want you to have to go through that. When I opened it, because we both know I did it with no prep and improved, I almost introduced it with “so, I didn’t think I would be speaking to you all tonight, but my Dad asked me to, so here we are.” I ended up simply saying “I wasn’t exactly planning on this, but when your mentor asks if you can help him out by giving a speech, you ask the topic and how many minutes you need to fill.” I freaked out for a week.

And if my reaction didn’t tell you, I never thought you’d want or care for me as a daughter. You’re still welcome to rescind at any time, clearly. But anyways, thank you, for.. yeah. More than I can write to put into words. Everything. For seeing the fact that we aren’t entirely seeing eye to eye right now and still loving me, for helping me through my sexuality crisises, for making me tea and holding me and giving me a safe space. For letting me be your annoying intern with enough trauma to power the New York power grid. Thank you for not hating me, and for letting me be in your life. I love you, so, so, so much

Soon after the twins were born, Frances invited her mother over so she could meet her grandchildren. It had been lonely for Vera ever since Jack died and she appreciated the invitation. Together with her daughter, she took care of the twins out in the early autumn sun and tried to share some advice for being a parent.

Vera was delighted to meet the twins and felt content with the realization that life would go on even after her generation passed away. Moreover, Frances had managed to ensure an incredible life for herself, which made Vera feel secure about her daughter's future.

When Vera got home after spending the whole day at the Calloway's, she felt tired. A tiredness she had never felt before. She had to lie down for a while, but then never got up again. Vera passed away that day, content with her life and ready to follow her husband into another.

This is the Christmas Station ID of TV5 in 2010. The Christmas Station ID was themed “Maligayang Pasko, Kapatid! In the Service of the Filipino”. The Station ID is accompanied with the Christmas version of “Para Sa’yo Kapatid” performed by Filipino singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, television host, actor and comedian Ogie Alcasid and his wife Regine Velasquez who is also an OPM singer and songwriter. But somehow, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez also performed the original version of the “Para Sa’yo Kapatid” in June 30, 2010.

The Christmas Station ID was launched in December 1, 2010 which is the same thing that the “Da Best ang Pasko ng Pilipino” music video was released from ABS-CBN.

The Christmas Station ID theme will be re-used in the 2011 Christmas Station ID from TV5 which is “Magpasaya ang Kapatid” but with minor changes and explosions. Somehow, The explosions at the very end will occur in the 2015 Christmas Station ID which is “Happy Ka Dito Ngayon Pasko” which will feature special guests like Rufa Mae Quinto, Julia Montes, Cristine Reyes, Dimples Romana, Alex Gonzaga, Roxanne Guinoo, Angelica Panganiban and Valerie Concepcion waving at the end.
